First Experienses at PT. BATAMEC SHIPYARD

28.12.14

I went into the shipyard since 2000.
where I began to migrate to Batam. In those days where the technology is not  as much as digital like nowso many basic skill that I can show you as photograph but it can not do. In that period we had not known with facebook, twitter, etc. I never had to plan arrange my experience into a blog, cause I don't know blog.  But in this occasion I just tell about the projects that I have gotten involved with them.

The first project that I involved in it is Barge 210' x 63' x 14'. I done nothing in that time,  i had just been seen, stared at the plate, workers , machine, gantry crane, marking box, chock, square, and my Master Mr. Toni Maulana. I am very-very fool, look like stupid man. But it was a duty. I had to work to got money. The Salary was Rp. 2500/hours. I think you are imaging how big that was. I was Helper, Bachelor and quite enough for me. lonely.

Ship Repair

There are many more projects repair we've ever done. I do not remember immediately, because a long time ago. Sometimes they look like an easy job, but they don't. The point is" make similar with existing part". We will need mathematics formula to process the job, especially in corner plate, shell plate, steam, bulbous, sheer plate, and out fitting item like machine foundation, roller foundation , etc. Ship repair have 3 step in process with rule of standard (ship repair standard) , remove, renew(fit up), and welding, different from new building they have 2 process, fit up and welding. So in pricing, ship repair is usually more expensive than the new building because of differences in the process earlier
For a marker, ship repair is a very appropriate place to learn. Here we can try in any way, any method possible, efficient and reasonable. This is where we tested the ability of the location due to the difficulty to get to the area to be in repair.

The new building that I work with directly as a marker.
Barge 180'x60'x12' , and Supply boat vessel 60 meter

After 2 years experiences at PT. BATAMEC SHIPYARD , then I was given responsibility to make the barge 180 feet. Next, more complicated, Supply Boat Vessel 60 meters.
I was very impressed with the second job, because from  this job I learned about the mold loft and AutoCAD. Until ones time I had a little accident on my hip veins  because most sit squat. Thanks as much as possible to the team involved, helper, fitter, welder, foremen, supervisor, my master Mr. Toni Maulana, Mr. Chiang (Apek Firing) and the entire family of PT. BATAMEC Shipyard. This is my final project in this company, before I resigned on the advice of my master towards the future.
