30.12.14
January 2008, I began to go  Malaysia. My trip started from batam, johor, and continue to terengganu. We were placed on the  Duyong island (name of district) . MSET sdn. Bhd. is the main company  were 24 people from batam working to built the Supply Boat Vessel 60 m (YN5741/42) 2 units. I  act as markers and loft man again.
From here I have started to create a blog. (http://doni-marker.blogspot.com/). it has been so long I do not update this blog, because i forget my old email address. On this page I will quote a bit of our activities in terengganu.

Malaysia is one of prosperous country I think. Good country, good goverment, and good citizen. It's a lovely place that I had ever been before, clean and orderly state. I say thank u very much for our agent in Indonesia (batam), and agent in Malaysia. Malaysia accept us with good expectation, although we ever ambushed by imigration at midle night. But it was not big problem because we have complete documents. Otherwise I can't imagine what will happen.

I spend my time at mold loft, made body line and template. I didi it with a helper from myanmar. His name in 'yu nang swe'. And that was my first time to join with people from other country. It was lovely...new experiences.

In this occation I want to warn my friends to comport oneself. Before go to Malaysia ask them about visa and permit process. becarefull about the cheater agent. The risk is jail....

Project with CV. CITRA KARYA ABADI (PT. PAN-U SHIPYARD)

28.12.14

After I resigned from PT. BATAMEC (2006), I moved to PT. PERKASA MELATI , be employe of sub contractor Dynasty I continued the project of others who was staying away. Many problems that must be repaired at this crane barge. We found problems in the leveling which very closely with surveyor or classification of ship. So we make several repair of Trans bulkhead to make good leveling. In this case we use hose water level.

I started my adventure here and  be one team with Mr. Ali Matondang, he was a Marker too. It was one of the mistakes of management, with 2 marker. I Though just 1 person  with consideration of the job difficulties

After 2 months, the heavy work had passed, just waiting for the Installation of crane pedestal. A friend called me and offered to work on larger projects and more challenging. Indeed this was the opportunity I was looking for. Deal. I was moved  to PT. PAN UNITED SHIPYARD by sub con CVCITRA KARYA ABADI (2007). participate as a marker in  this supply. The project name is DSV IV, I accept drawings and studied them at home. It was big enough and the biggest I had ever seen. We faced very tight standard, with high quality material (EH 36). I still remember with The Project, Mr Ching, And Mr Kasim. This 2 man were always accompany us to completed 3 blocks from midship to aft. I resigned from the sub. con CV. First Experienses at PT. BATAMEC SHIPYARD

28.12.14

I went into the shipyard since 2000.
where I began to migrate to Batam. In those days where the technology is not  as much as digital like nowso many basic skill that I can show you as photograph but it can not do. In that period we had not known with facebook, twitter, etc. I never had to plan arrange my experience into a blog, cause I don't know blog.  But in this occasion I just tell about the projects that I have gotten involved with them.

The first project that I involved in it is Barge 210' x 63' x 14'. I done nothing in that time,  i had just been seen, stared at the plate, workers , machine, gantry crane, marking box, chock, square, and my Master Mr. Toni Maulana. I am very-very fool, look like stupid man. But it was a duty. I had to work to got money. The Salary was Rp. 2500/hours. I think you are imaging how big that was. I was Helper, Bachelor and quite enough for me. lonely.

Ship Repair

There are many more projects repair we've ever done. I do not remember immediately, because a long time ago. Sometimes they look like an easy job, but they don't. The point is" make similar with existing part". We will need mathematics formula to process the job, especially in corner plate, shell plate, steam, bulbous, sheer plate, and out fitting item like machine foundation, roller foundation , etc. Ship repair have 3 step in process with rule of standard (ship repair standard) , remove, renew(fit up), and welding, different from new building they have 2 process, fit up and welding. So in pricing, ship repair is usually more expensive than the new building because of differences in the process earlier
For a marker, ship repair is a very appropriate place to learn. Here we can try in any way, any method possible, efficient and reasonable. This is where we tested the ability of the location due to the difficulty to get to the area to be in repair.

The new building that I work with directly as a marker.
Barge 180'x60'x12' , and Supply boat vessel 60 meter

After 2 years experiences at PT. BATAMEC SHIPYARD , then I was given responsibility to make the barge 180 feet. Next, more complicated, Supply Boat Vessel 60 meters.
I was very impressed with the second job, because from  this job I learned about the mold loft and AutoCAD. Until ones time I had a little accident on my hip veins  because most sit squat. Thanks as much as possible to the team involved, helper, fitter, welder, foremen, supervisor, my master Mr. Toni Maulana, Mr. Chiang (Apek Firing) and the entire family of PT. BATAMEC Shipyard. This is my final project in this company, before I resigned on the advice of my master towards the future.

Terminology of Markerman and Loftsman

26.12.14
Nowadays  , Shipyard Industries have develop in the world , has advanced rapidly and promises to the world of business. Especially in Batam Riau Islands, Shipyard Industries has begun to exist since developed as an Industrial area.

If we see further into the Shipyard Industries, we will know how many parts are in the industry and many people  need to build a ship or made repairs to a ship.

Now I will introduce a profession in which the commencement of shipbuilding.

 Structure Draftsman.
Draftsman  is a person who prepares technical drawings and plans under the direction of an architect or engineer. A draftsman should be able to draw in detail about the shape and size of a ship or boat parts. In general, many Draftsman will be in front of the computer. A Draftar Draftman at least have experience of the situation in the field. Sometimes a drawing should be split again into small parts that might be caused of standard facilities in workshops or outside the workshop.

Markerman
The next process after Draftsman is Markerman. This person is responsible for initiating the process of ship. Marker will be made in accordance with the actual size of the scale of 1: 1. All sizes and shapes in the image will be created on the materials that need. Such as plate, Angle Bar, H-beam and others. Not infrequently, a marker will be a difficult task. And she will consult on Draftsman or above again as engineering or engineering project.

loftsman
Not infrequently a Marker is  loftsman well Marker have a lot of work spent in the yard or workshop, loftsman has in the  Mold loft building. In Mold loft building, They will make template of the whole body of the ship. of after-peak to the fore peak. and it all with a scale of 1: 1. Maybe you already can imagine how big the room is in need for a mold loft. We need a big patience to be a marker or loft man, cause it will took a long time to build a ship. Sometime we are in standby time, sometime we will busy to finish some job. You know that sleepy is our real enemy, need some fresh mind, fresh stamina to this job. Some marker or loft man will addicted with coffee and cigarette.

Actually,  i am very confused to determine the suitable word that match with this profession. If I type
'marker', they will show me marker pens, while I need page that tell me about drawing, lay down the point of drawing to be the original size 1:1. Maybe friends can help me to find the match word. I am looking forward to hear from all of you that interested with this.....
